Is there a valid medical reason why doctors/dentists/optometrists need to know if you're divorced or widowed? Medical forms seem to ask for a lot of information that's none of their business and has no impact on how they care for me (another ex: Driver License #)
Marital/relationship status has an impact on health. Having someone at home to help with care and watch for issues is a positive indicator.

But they don't need to know the delineation between single or divorced. Fuck that. And if I have someone to care for me isn't determined by whether I'm married or not. I can be single and have better care than if I'm in an unhappy marriage

And my dentist doesn't need to know my relationship status.
