  1. This weekend, park rangers are reminding local residents and visitors to operate their boats safely. As part of the national campaign rangers will conduct vessel safety inspections at boat launches and increased patrols on Jackson Lake.

    Rangers recovered the body of a climber on the east face of Teewinot Mountain today. The deceased climber is 27-year old Burak Akil of Wayne, New Jersey. It is believed Akil was solo climbing Teewinot Mountain on Sunday, and fell on the descent. Story:

    Rangers conducted an overnight rescue after receiving a call for help Tuesday night. Due to darkness, rangers responded to the scene on foot and spent the night with the injured climber before conducting an aerial rescue the following morning. Full story: .

    About 8 a.m. Friday, park rangers responded to several individuals that were injured in a horse incident in Colter Bay. The investigation is ongoing, though indications are that the horses were spooked by a female black bear and cubs. Full story at: .

    The Gros Ventre Rd work has completed. Those who wish to access Kelly, Gros Ventre Campground, or adjacent areas can do so w/o detour or nightly closures. Gros Ventre JCT on Highway 89/191/26 remains under construction throughout the summer in order to create a new roundabout.
