Your ancestors lived all over the world, but relatively few of them were your genetic ancestors (does that matter?) https://gcbias.org/2017/12/19/1628/ …pic.twitter.com/U0iFxyqqjD

Surprising no one, Family Tree DNA seems to be more worried about business relationships and press coverage than they are about the privacy of the many accounts they opted-inhttps://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/peteraldhous/family-tree-dna-parabon-fbi-foia …

plus the baby just learnt to laugh. She's been doing laughing in her sleep for a while, but now we get to share in the joke. So it's hard to be mad at today despite all the crap happening in the world.

Me: I'm sad because it's Brexit day. 4 y.o: What's breakfast day? Me: ...A day about breakfast. 4 y.o: Oh. 4 y.o. [later, shouting happily]: It's boxing day!

Very proud of
@ASNAmNat 's role (with Mike Whitlock's energy behind it) getting@datadryad accepted as a standard and requirement. I want to re-emphasize, AmNat took a leading role and took a hit in reduced submission at the time. There are many raw data files to sort through, and this is an added burden to a group of stressed co-authors. If anyone here is willing to volunteer a few hours to delve into data files to confirm there are no sources of concern (hopefully), or identify concerns, please reply

An updated version of our (

"Fundamentally I believe that if we stigmatize retractions, we will see fewer of them and the scientific record will retain its errors longer than we'd like."... nice stuff Dan!https://twitter.com/DanielBolnick/status/1222940590473695232 …

@DanielBolnick provides more context and important considerations re:#PruittGate. Everyone involved with this mess is human (including Jonathan) so I'll just reiterate the need for patience and as much understanding as possible. http://ecoevoevoeco.blogspot.com/?m=1Thanks. Aso similarly: unless your work relies directly on their replication, I'd allow a little time for coauthors to do the detective work on the various papers. If you want to help them, offer to help.

While many of them are quite funny, I'd perhaps stop and think about junior coauthors before posting jokes about retractions. It's quite a stressful situation for them.

This for me is the key point. It's basic to why genetic differences have such appeal for them. Even leaving aside environmental effects, they think the genetic differences we observe between groups are a sort of ur-description of humanity.

Having been involved in this process since Dec 17, I can confirm that
@KateLaskowski (and some others I am not yet open to naming) have done a phenomenal amount of sorting through raw data. The odd patterns are not blatant at first.https://twitter.com/EcoEvoLab/status/1222568108428165121 …Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo -

FREE CHILDCARE sends such a positive signal that parents and children are welcome in academic societies. I am genuinely surprised (in the most positive way) how quickly things have changed since I had my first kid 12 years ago, and conference childcare was unheard of!https://twitter.com/Evol_mtg/status/1222558721051508736 …

One revealing thing about arguments that polygenic scores will offer easy answers to group differences in traits is that proponents also slip into arguing that such differences would be immutable. That is simply not the case. https://gcbias.org/2018/03/14/polygenic-scores-and-tea-drinking/ …pic.twitter.com/oHZXYE5tGg

I am not excited to say that there were similar problems in the raw data of another of my papers - this paper is now retracted too. I know there might be some interest in what's going on so here is the full account of how and why I came to this decision: https://laskowskilab.faculty.ucdavis.edu/2020/01/29/retractions/ … https://twitter.com/KateLaskowski/status/1218228213123403776 …pic.twitter.com/MjNn7A1ybl
