1/ When I was a kid, I & many girls I knew were mortified by the changes to our bodies that puberty caused. If we’d been told we might be trans because we didn’t like the changes, many of us would’ve latched onto it like a lifeline.

2/ So why do so many people act like it’s hate speech to acknowledge that many kids are IDing as trans now to escape that discomfort?

3/ Parents who ask their kids to wait on transition are not shaming them, they’re just saying, “Hold up now. This is a big deal. Give yourself a chance to grow up and become comfortable in your body.”

4/ Affirmation proponents are letting misleading suicide statistics distract them from the truth that transition involves irreversible changes and long-term health risks.

I think most girls hate their bodies in their teen years. I thought I was fat but after looking back, I was pretty average. You always think the grass is greener on the other side at that age. All of us got through these tough times. The solution to being "trans" is to grow up.

I never, ever wanted to be a boy. I'm wondering if this is more for younger people...? (younger than me) When I came of age, feminism was in full swing, everything was about being proud to be a woman. I'm wondering, because that might be what we need again, strong

messages all around a girl's life that it is great to be female, that we fight to improve our lot, that we are strong, smart, etc. I think somehow that message got dropped. Third wave is certainly at fault, I know. We made a lot of progress.... then perhaps
