  12. In April, we partnered with Supreme Court Chief Justice James Hardesty, local justice courts, the state and local cities, & to prevent pending evictions. To date, more than 1,541 households facing eviction have received $11.1 million in CHAP assistance.

  13. In June, we streamlined how we process CHAP applications. We are now processing more than 800 applications per week. There are more than 370 CHAP workers dedicated to assisting CHAP applicants with processing applications, uploading required documents, & troubleshooting.

  14. From July 2020 to July 2021, we assisted more than 29,500 households through the CHAP portal and 60,000 households through direct payment to utility companies, totaling more than $162 million in rent, utilities, and mortgage (last year) assistance.

  16. I want to thank all who have been involved in quickly creating & standing up these systems to minimize the harm done to Nevadans who have been out of work & adversely affected by the pandemic. We will continue to monitor this process & make adjustments as necessary.

  17. If rental assistance is available, a landlord can accept it & the tenant can remain housed & avoid a preventable eviction. If the tenant desires to move out, there can be an agreement on a move-out date with payment. The parties are free to work out any agreement as they see fit.

  19. I want to be clear – if you are a renter, you MUST apply for this assistance. Shannon and Kevin will shortly go over how to do so. Filling out and submitting an application is the best thing you can do right now if you fear you may be evicted for nonpayment of rent.
