States with SALT typically are better funded and take less from the Fed government. It isn’t a question of whether NY budget is too high, it is a question of why other states get to pass on their budget woos to the feds don’t get punish but donor states do

You got to uncap for rich people, too, or we will lose them as taxpayers (they will move to FL) Anecdotally, I can tell you this is a major talking point for the ultra wealthy in NYC — if we lose them, this state’s budget gets wrecked

how about we just cut state and local budget by trimming the fat, and consolidating villages and towns? we don’t need or deserve all the layers and atomized government we have in my.

westchester county alone consists of 121 different entities — villages, towns, cities, school districts, housing authorities, water/sewer authorities. this repeats in 57 other counties all over the state, except in nyc. we don’t need them all especially the tiny ones.
