On #LaborDay, I'm proud to sign four pieces of legislation that protect and benefit working NYers.
All workers deserve a fair wage, safe working conditions and good benefits.
These new laws advance NY's proud legacy as the birthplace of the labor movement.
This legislation will:
Make highway workers safer in work zones
Make contractors jointly liable for wages owed to workers employed by a subcontractor
Require payment of prevailing wage to building service employees at luxury co-ops & condos
Extend Shared Work Benefits

Qualified teachers and staff at NYS 853 schools need to be part of the NYSTRS. It feels like we, and the students we care for, are forgotten …or simply not regarded with value.
