I’m not going to let personal attacks from the president distract me from what matters: beating this virus and keeping Washingtonians healthy.

Governor Jay Inslee’s Tweets
Washington state will act under our own authority, our own laws and our own jurisdiction to protect #NetNeutrality for all of Washington's citizens.
The president’s statements this morning encourage illegal and dangerous acts. He is putting millions of people in danger of contracting COVID-19.
His unhinged rantings and calls for people to “liberate” states could also lead to violence. We’ve seen it before. 1/7
We heard reports that a in Seattle was selling n95 masks.
My staff and others stepped in.
Those masks are now on their way to the health care workers who desperately need them.

Most Washingtonians are helping slow COVID-19’s spread by practicing strong social distancing.
To those of you that can be but are choosing not to: Your actions could kill someone.

CA is now a vote by mail state.
Every registered voter will receive a mail-in ballot for the Nov election.
We’ll also provide safe in-person voting options.
The right to vote is foundational to our democracy. No one should be forced to risk their health to exercise that right.
The West Coast is ahead of the curve on COVID-19. We’re going to make sure that stays true.
WA, OR and CA will work together on a shared approach for reopening our economies.
#WeGotThisWA
Every single American should be able to vote-by-mail.
Pass it on.
While fighting COVID-19, we must also fight against rumors and false information.
Let me be clear: Neither me nor my staff are engaged in conversations to quarantine or seal off any part of Washington state.
Governors were told repeatedly by there was a strategic reserve of vaccines, and this week, the American people were told it’d be released to increase supply of vaccine.
It appears now that no reserve exists. The Trump admin. must answer immediately for this deception.

Last night, I received disturbing news, confirmed to me directly by General Perna of Operation Warp Speed: States will not be receiving increased shipments of vaccines from the national stockpile next week, because there is no federal reserve of doses.
To protect Washingtonians from COVID-19, I am issuing a ‘Stay Home, Stay Healthy’ order.
Here is what it means for you and your family. ⬇️
Along with and Calif. Gov. Jerry Brown, we're forming the United States Climate Alliance. governor.wa.gov/news-media/ins

It's important for leaders to speak with one voice. I just wish the president and vice president could get on the same page.

I encourage political leaders to speak out firmly against the president’s calls for rebellion.
Americans need to work together to protect each other. That’s what is working in WA.
And it’s the only way to slow the spread of this virus and get us on the road to recovery. 7/7
We cannot let COVID-19 spread like it is right now in Washington.
So today, we’re mandating facial coverings statewide.
NOT HERE, NOT IN OUR LIFETIME. Washington is and will remain pro-choice. And we will not slow down in the fight to ensure safe, affordable access to every person who needs it.
Every state in America is united in the fight to save the lives of our people. Though our mission is the same, our needs are different.
Today, Washington is returning 400 ventilators so states like New York and others can have them.

Yesterday, the president told the nation science would guide his plan for easing restrictions. The White House released a sensible plan to resume economic activity.
24 hrs later he is off the rails, ignoring his own plan and spewing dangerous, anti-democratic rhetoric. 3/7

The president is fomenting domestic rebellion and spreading lies - even while his own administration says the virus is real, it is deadly and we have a long way to go before restrictions can be lifted. 2/7
After a day of conflicting messages from the federal government, where they told my staff repeatedly that there was no surge of additional personnel to Seattle, it appears they are doing just that.
President Trump sent federal officers to Seattle because he is itching for a confrontation. He wants attention.
We shouldn’t give him either.
Keep it peaceful, keep the attention where it belongs – on building a better, more just Washington for everyone.

I hope someday we can look at today’s meltdown as something to be pitied, rather than condemned.
But we don’t have that luxury today. There is too much at stake. 6/7
These are the rantings of an insecure man trying to look strong, after building his entire political career on racism and the lie of birtherism. He is — again — failing to address the underlying injustices facing black Americans.
It is not leadership. google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.
Attack on federal judge from POTUS is beneath the dignity of that office. That attitude can lead America to calamity.
Replying to
The president’s actions threaten his own goal of recovery. His words will likely cause a spike in infections where distancing is working.
That will further postpose the 14 days of decline his own guidance says is necessary to ease restrictions. 4/7
I cannot express the honor I feel to be elected to a third term as governor.
The people of Washington have given my administration a unique place in history, and I will continue to work hard for you every day.
I wish President Trump cared as much about living Americans as he does about dead Confederates.

But their work is undermined by the president's irresponsible actions. 5/7
It's official. The death penalty is no longer in state law. In 2014 I issued a moratorium. In 2018 the state Supreme Court deemed the death penalty unconstitutional. Now in 2023, passage of SB 5087 strikes it entirely from our statutes.

Washingtonians: thank you for staying home. I’m proud of our efforts as a state.

I want schools to reopen this fall. And we are currently on pace to make that happen.
But I will not send our kids and educators back if it is unsafe to do so.
Our number one priority from the beginning has been keeping Washingtonians safe. That has not changed.
