    Governor David Ige‏Verified account @GovHawaii 27 Sep 2021

The State of Hawaiʻi has pledged to conserve, restore, & grow 100M trees in Hawaiʻi by the year 2030. It’s our part in a larger nationwide effort, called the trillion tree movement @1t_org, and is a direct approach to achieving net-negative carbon goals to combat global warming.

It'll be done by protecting existing forests, conserving private land through legal protections, planting trees to restore existing forest lands, reclaim unused rural lands where forests used to exist, advance agroforestry, plant in urban areas, & facilitate natural regeneration.

Seek out illegal hunters that still pose a significant problem to the conservation of the land and what about the poachers that resort to vandalism? Hunters come in and damage private areas and crops and property and most hunters don’t bother to fix what they destroy.

Praising efforts like this and the @kanileahawaii #NaniEkolu movement that has been planting and protecting 1000's of Koa trees and caring for other struggling Native Hawaiian species since 2014.

The secret is keep planting and keep cutting forever! That’s how CO2 is taken from the atmosphere. We need to understand how it works.

There are sustainable crops that do not require replanting, such as bamboo and hemp. Fruit trees that feed people. It's all about the management and wise planning.
