If a character isn’t straight, I’m happy to play the role provided that we’re not leaning on stereotypes or I’m taking a role away from another actor. Now if I’m asked to tell an LBGTQ+ story, I would decline. We should be showcasing LGBTQ+ talent and amplifying their voices

Also, leaving queer roles to queer actors only is actually leaving them to queer actors who are out only. I'm not really comfortable with the idea that an actor who plays a queer character would owe a public coming out, if you see what i mean

Not quite, though: there's also being the wonderful, empathetic person and outspoken ally he is. People like him, who challenge the status quo, keep learning about other's predicaments, and speak up on behalf of other groups are giving a huge contribution by that already!
