The insidious nature of our privilege is it is absolute and unbroken before it's seen. Then the tiniest crack forms somewhere, the truth leaks through, and we begin to see the horror we're a part of. We realize it was never not there for us to see.

Well said. Even as one who always thought myself anti-racist, it took years to grasp the ubiquitous privileges of whiteness I took as just "life." Fish don't know what water is.
