It's entirely new legislation. In the UK you have to write the legislation, get it through Parliament and the queen.

So it's already law, but doesn't "apply" till May. GDPR specific elements can't legally be enforced before May.

The DP Act defines how we will implement it, i.e. defines exemptions, but has no ability to stop it. It's a regulation, thus already here.

Didn't realise it already made it thru. I was super cynical about GDPR, but now less so if it applies to credit agencies.

When it became a regulation in 2016, that made it law in every EU country. We now have a 2 year grace period before it applies

Applies to every organisation in EU and all globally that target EU people. So anyone of any size really.
