You can't take out the Equifax root CA without breaking almost a million of most popular websites on internet - but somebody has revoked it.

It looks like revoking it doesn't actually, uhm, work. I'm guessing browsers don't CRLs back up to root CA level.

It's not that bad. A lot of those hang off GeoTrust Global CA with the old Equifax one as a fallback path that works on older devices.
