I feel bad for Equifax staff on a human level, they have an InfoSec department who I'm sure are bashing their heads against a brick wall.

Agreed. It's hard, it's expensive, and there are no guarantees. And other internal priorities and org/individual actions contribute.
Yep it's an... interesting job. I've been at new place for 3 months, lots to do.
