Very very common. I track RDP ransomware, it's big business.

I had initially thought Locky but it wouldn't spread over a network, then changed my guess to Crysis but I have heard Bitpaymer mentioned

Bitpaymer I know of too. Doesn't seem to be as common as Crysis but also used in RDP attacks, usually with very high ransom demands.
