I'm actually surprised to hear this :o would you agree that qualifications makes it easier in most cases, but isn't the "be all end all"?
If you get crap GCSE rules know mine were pretty bad and I have no professional qualifications for my work field and I did okay.

yes id agree with that; confidence + experience = as good as chance as someone with qualifications in my experience

I took an IT apprentice job on a helpdesk 18 years ago. Terrible pay at first. Ended up looking after their antivirus and patching.

I got a U in IT in GCSE and a D in A levels. Now a Security Architect also. Took shit IT job at start for long term gain. Exposure is king.

What was that due to? In my case bad grades were mainly bad discipline, lack of effort.
