UX seems so shitty I could almost become a conspiracy theorist & say this isn't really ransomware, but ... something else.

1) If we agree that the infection started in Ukraine, hacking & abusing the update function of a particular software there...

2) I could rather easily be convinced to believe it was an attack with intent to encrypt files & cause havoc in Ukraine. Period.

3) using ransomware & further global spread as a "bonus" & as a cover-up for the real purpose.

Fortunately we don't need to think about it anymore, there's a new shiny Shadowbrokers post and lots of juicy stuff to go over there!
