Agreed, but I do put some blame squarely on limited monitoring and logging of WMI until Windows 8-ish.
WMI is pretty scary security wise. It will see lots more fun abuse. Keeps me employed I guess.

Yup. As an attacker I make heavy use of WMI for all sorts of things. It's like the lymphatic system of a Windows network
