When a VPN service says they store no logs, it means they store logs. And if they lose them, PRISM has a backup of connections.

VPN services can be an intelligence agencies best tool, because it gives you an IP range to monitor and traffic to tap.

On the one hand, if they are nation state worthy, why do they need to target the range they'd just know it?

And surely all the anonymising paid for VPS need to ensure they arent busted for having logs or their entire bus. model would not work?

Many of them are single employee ventures on shared VPS servers. Something like half don't even encrypt traffic.

Those arent the ones people will be using though, there are at least a few properly run networks. That would be akin to hosting on godaddy!
