When a VPN service says they store no logs, it means they store logs. And if they lose them, PRISM has a backup of connections.
VPN services can be an intelligence agencies best tool, because it gives you an IP range to monitor and traffic to tap.

Most VPN shops are absolutely tiny compared to large ISPs, so don't have legal departments etc. Imagine how good targets their traffic is.

Or you could just fire up your own VPN server on AWS or other cloud platform

On the one hand, if they are nation state worthy, why do they need to target the range they'd just know it?

And surely all the anonymising paid for VPS need to ensure they arent busted for having logs or their entire bus. model would not work?

What about the providers the agencies use for their own purposes? Surely they can be trusted to log > /dev/null, rite?
