I spent so long thinking “I’m trans, my gender doesn’t match the gender I was presumed to be, I MUST present masculine to counteract this” but that never felt right for me & I now present feminine but learned so quickly that my presentation has no bearing on my personal identity.

Not fitting a binary mold was really hard on me because of transmed ideologies telling me I had to be one way or another. It took me a long time to find the nonbinary identity and it helped me realize so much about myself.

I went through a phase of “maybe I’m not even trans, I’m just a girl trying to be special” because of transmed stuff. It was hurtful because my gender didn’t feel right but because I didn’t fit a medical mold or a binary mold I thought it was in my head, or I was making it up.

Finding out I could identify as nonbinary quite literally saved my life. My depression was amplified by this feeling of “other” and a feeling that I was never going to feel at home in my skin. Discovering the identity helped so much in alleviating that and helping me transition.

There is no one way to be trans. It’s not a phase, it’s not in your head, it’s not invalid... your identity is yours and yours alone and no one can control or take that away from you. Those who try, no matter the rhetoric they use, are— for lack of a better term— full of shit.

You’re valid, your journey and experiences are valid, how you do or don’t transition is valid, how you do or don’t experience dysphoria is valid. You’re trans enough. You’re enough, period. I support you.

And that’s something I wish someone had sat down and told me because it would’ve saved me a lot of pain. So my greatest wish for the trans community is that myself and others can tell them this so that they don’t have to suffer more at the hands of fallacious, transmed concepts.

The trans community on twitter helped me so much as well, recently. I came out as nonbinary after feeling it for years and it helped me so much. People like @princess_stef69 and @miajoellesinger have literally helped me so much. Find good people like this.
