The laboratory wonderfully combined form and function analysis in the hippocampus. Their work is always worth a look. This being a terrific exemplar!

Denis' work has exploded over the past five years. He has repeatedly elegantly examined long standing questions about the interplay of nature (lineage, timing of birth) with nurture (the role of thalamic afferents) in the emergence of pyramidal neuron diversity.

What a great picture of the Harwell lab! Glad to have Corey as a colleague and looking forward to teaching cortical development with him next week for the Neurobiology graduate program!

I love this work and Maria is a great mix of classical evolutionary neurobiologist and cutting edge single cell transcriptomics. Newsflash- Interneuron subtypes are way old! Come see her talk at cortical development this May (17-22) in Sicily!

Really excited to see the Pascu lab pushing the envelope in their exploration of organoids.

Guille is blazing a path in her work on the role of thalamùs in cortical development. She is killer good.

Thrilled to see John take on this important role. He is going to be great for the Brain initiative

Nice analysis from Genetech on splicing in adult interneurons and excitatory cells. Nice that people are looking beyond transcription in the search for diversity. See also our work on splicing in SST neurons in biorxiv

Nice to see nature figured out how to deal with pressure long ago.

Soon teaching a cortical development course for HMS PIN students with Corey Harwell . In preparing. for it, it is great to review some of the classics from Sidman, Caviness, Hatten, Kriegstein and McConnell. Special guest lectures by Franck Polleux and Chris Walsh!

Nice paper from the on sc-ATAC-seq in cortical progenitors, comparing organoids to primary cells. They provide insight into how chromatin in cortical progenitors evolves, and an important test of organoids as a model of brain development.
