I want to talk about the theft thats been occurring from @WarcraftVyn and @WarcraftMeme. They made a post today (which was copy pasted then deleted from december 8th) about how Vyn is willing to "cooperate" with content creators to delete content they stole. Vyn or any of the other admins who run the page have made almost no effort to delete posts (except for the delete / shoutout post from Dec.). At multiple points, they have disregarded how they carelessly post things without attempting to look up or properly credit it's creators.
Many people have come to them asking to delete posts of their content or give credit, they either delete / give credit to them MUCH LATER after it has cycled its popularity to irrelevancy, or flat out deny the allegations they had towards them, and then outright blocking them.pic.twitter.com/8TWBZOq3dG
Doing this to creators does not give them "exposure". It hurts the trust they have from the very communities they wish to give joy to, making them feel paranoid and self-conscious about the possibility of being hit by theft again. Effectively alienating them from the community.
These are not huge creators. Many are below a thousand followers, a mere fraction to the the WC meme's 21k total. I don't doubt that they are sent hundreds of pics daily. But if they were so concerned about the creators, there would had been an effort to trace their origins.
We have tons of tools, especially things like google's reverse image search or just not accepting images sent without proper credit or sourcing. The problem is not fixing it, the problem is that there is one to begin with. But you aren't proactive in attempting to prevent it.
And don't think I forgot about the lack of self awareness as they post memes of the coup that literally happened yesterday, or the other homophobic and sexist memes they post on a semi-regular basis. (granted the orc one was later deleted)pic.twitter.com/eW0tjHp6o5
It should not be the creator's job to tell you to stop stealing their content. It should be YOUR JOB. Nobody elses. You need to do better, and stop pretending you are doing creators a favor as you continue this façade of being reasonable humble guys. You're self-entitled thieves.
