So I'll be able to carry over all my uploaded MP3s and anything I've purchased... But what about buying music?

You won't be able to purchase music directly from the YouTube Music app. But, you can buy songs from other sites and upload them to YT Music. That way, you'll have your entire music library in one place. Let us know if you have any other questions.
