@GooglePlayMusic will the switch to YT Music leave google play music obsolete? Or not even decided
We plan to replace Google Play Music with YT Music but not before we support key features such as uploading personal collections, playing local MP3s on Android and importing your library content/preferences. We'll also provide plenty of notices before anything changes.

Nothing is changing with Google Play Music yet. We are working on a way that will let you migrate your music collection, playlists, and preferences to YouTube Music. This way, you'll have the same listening experience on the new app.
