I also tried reformatting the SD card as android storage. Google Play Music app no longer has options to allow me to control where the music is stored, and it's still storing it in internal storage. Is there a way or is it just a bug? How did nobody run into this?

Yes, I've read it. The "save to SD" part of the guide does not work. I believe the app does not have permission to write to the SD, because every other app must specificslly ask to write to the SD and Play Music does not. It complains it can't write because SD is out of space.
The SD has 30gb of space.
