I tried to play a song in @GooglePlayMusic on iOS 11.4.1 (iPhone 8 plus). The app turned black with some gray borders still present, then my screen went black, then my phone restarted.

Thanks for the screenshot. Could you try deleting the app, restating the device and reinstalling the app. Note - this will delete your saved offline music. Let us know if this works!
