I Met this great man at a very wet Silverstone in 1978 when the USAC championship was in town. A gentleman, a great designer, a great driver. He is what a legend should be RIP Dan, I am sure there is a Presidency up there somewhere waiting just for you.

Had the privilege of having him sign a hat and program at the Monterey Historics along side of Stirling Moss and Phil Hill, 3 of my hero. Still have both items along with some pictures my wife took of me with them.

A man I never met, never even saw in person, yet who's passing undeniably stopped me in my tracks for a bit when I heard the news this morning. Without a doubt a Proper Racer. Rest in Peace Sir.

I drove into the parking lot of the Mission Inn in my Supra in Riverside, CA the day before the 1998 Indy 500 race at the California Speedway. When I got out of the car, Dan walked past me and said "nice car." I only realized later that it was he.

In the 70s I was a member of the AAR fan club. I ordered a poster commemorating his Spa GP win, when it arrived it was signed to me by Dan. It sill hangs in my house. His assistant, Kathy, was lovely, and always replied to my requests for autographs from Dan and his drivers.
