A new feature of the auto-backup in GoodNotes 5 compared to GoodNotes 4 is the ability to select one supported backup format (PDF or GoodNotes) OR both at the same time.

Backing up in PDF format lets you access (and search!!!) the copy of your notes and documents directly in the cloud storage. Documents in GoodNotes format can only be opened in GoodNotes but are fully editable documents.

When you enable automatic-backup for the first time, it will take some time before all your documents are available in the cloud because GoodNotes has to back up everything. Afterward, only your latest changes to your documents will be uploaded which is much faster.

auto-backup runs whenever GoodNotes is in the foreground (visible on screen) and you're connected to the internet. If you close the app or move it to the background, it will pause the current backup tasks and will resume automatically when GoodNotes is in the foreground again.

How can I force a document to backup? Because some of my documents are missing

Please open Menu > Settings > Automatic Backup and check if they're listed in the "Excluded Documents". GoodNotes may have detected a problem with the files and couldn't upload them.
