Instead of rehashing everything, here's my thoughts on unique promos https://www.mtggoldfish.com/articles/the-problem-with-unique-promos … It's not that they are bad, it's that they ask Wizards to make a card that's good enough to sell boxes but bad enough to not be Standard playable. It's a small window and we're all human
Somehow Wizards has managed to only print 1 or 2 "playable" buy a box promos in 8 years... I think they've got this covered
