Can anyone explain to me why Bitcoin is important to me if I don't need to launder money, buy drugs online, or get my wealth out of a country that won't let me export / invest internationally?

Crypto market cap is something like 25% of Apple. Meaning the large firms haven't stuck their hands in it (yet), the community exchanging $ is small, and there's huge upside for getting in early. Not a long term bet, but appears to be a lot of money to be had short term.

Yeah, I get the money making part... I don't get why people think it's "the future"

Concept of 'microtransactions' makes us able to conduct small transactions (eg 25p) without costs incurred (like with a credit card). Also Bitcoin money is not subject to bank control. For example, Greek banks banned people from taking their own money out when recession hit.

But the fact that you can't turn bitcoin into real money without a fee negates that promise unless it replaces all currency (spoiler: it won't)

There's already bitcoin cashpoints. I'm getting the vibe you don't like Bitcoin? What makes you hesitant to accept its value?
