I think you're misinterpreting the statement. Nobody ever thinks they sent a non NM card and nobody ever thinks they received a NM card

Or new sellers don't understand what constitutes wear on a card, especially foils. They think "nm" = "it has a few nicks but it's fine"

They should rename Near Mint to Mint. Maybe this would avoid confusion. The "near" is a bit misleading. Maybe call it Gem Mint.
