Rules same across formats , edh no sideboard
So did today's rule change effectively ban companions in Commander as there is no "sideboard"?

They said that it’ll work the same way that it did before, just it costs (3) to put it into your hand from <mystery outside-the-game zone>. The rule change still applies even though there’s technically so SB for it to come from.

I'm not sure I understand as there was no sideboard in Commander before and Companions previously started in your sideboard. However you were playing them before, the same thing would apply now I imagine.

I thought the original wording was that companions began "outside the game" which in tournaments could only be the sideboard
