Actually...in New York the max state unemployment rate is $504 a week however the federal government has also issued a weekly allowance of $600 for unemployed folks until July 31st. Meaning until July 31st you'll be collecting paychecks equivalent to a $75k a year salary.
ACTUALLY $504+600 = $1104 a week times 52 weeks is $57,408 a year...but yeah sure, lets round that up to $75k to make a point

This isn't accounting for taxes buddy. Gross =/= net. With NYC at $75k a year you'd take home around that much. Obviously if you throw in insurance and other stuff it's not exact but that's about how much you'd take home a week if you made $75k a year.

But yes, you have to pay tax for the unemployment benefits you receive from the state. I don't know about federal since it's something new? I'm guessing yes but it's only for a few months so I don't know how much you'd even have to pay.
