I'll be honest, if prerelease events were release events, we'd run 1 rather than 4 events and the prizes wouldbe worse... the current system is better for players than the alternative.https://twitter.com/Top8Games/status/1220352558226649091 …

Why would the prizes be worse? It would be the same event except you would get to sell singles and loose packs and home booster drafts.

Wizards provides free product to subsidize prereleases as a marketing cost... can't see them continuing to do that if they're just straight releasing the set

Since this is my fantasy scenario we are discussing let’s assume they treat Release Weekend the same as Prerelease weekend except you get to make a lot more money and players don’t have to wait a week in which they can be distracted by other things to give you that money.

I don't actually see it resulting in more money for stores. There's nickel and dime players and spenders. Spenders will just buy a box as they do now. Nickel and dime players would just buy a few packs rather than playing in another event resulting in less overall participation

Hi! Store owner here! Just wanted to pop in and let you know everything you have hypothesized and theorized here about how players act and spend is completely wrong! Sincerely, A Store Owner
