At a Legacy event years ago, this happened: Opp: Life from the Loam? Me: [wait 5 seconds] Resolves. Opp: [Goes to pick up 3 lands] Me: You didn't target anything. Judge sided with me, and I won the match. Still feel bad. What's the scummiest thing you've done in a MTG tourney?

Pretty sure this one doesn’t work since it sounds like the opponent didn’t actually move beyond the time the trigger would have resolved. Ie a trigger is assumed to be on the stack until the timing of its resolution is irrefutably missed.

Maybe the way I think about scummy play is the issue. When I think scummy, it’s always an angle shoot that is technically within the rules. For me, this one is beyond just being scummy and is actually cheating.

This was 8+ years ago, not sure if I was parroting what I saw others do, if triggers were handled differently, or if I just misunderstood the rules
