It's definitely unethical and scummy. "I assumed you put all 5 on the Goose", lol. In what universe? He fucking attacked Oko. The rules are just a red herring here, the ethics and play patterns used by everyone *really* differ.
Lying to a judge is also a thing in the rules... "I assumed he assigned all 5 damage to the Goose" was a straight up lie. Additionally, stories about shit like this are why we have such a hard time converting Magic players to tournament participants.

That's the issue with this; on an otherwise uncomplicated board state, the chances of intentional assignment of 5 damage to the goose are basically zero, so the way I see it, Zan bullshitted the judge. Protect yourself from this by always communicating intent clearly, I guess. :(
