I see people talking about potentially banning cards like Hydroid Krasis or Nissa to keep Oko decks in check. This feels like banning Bridge from Below to stop Hogaak. If Oko's a problem, just deal with it. If you shoot the head you kill the ghoul.

We’re already talking about the -next- Standard ban? Don’t ban any Green cards, come on! (I do get the point you’re making. Just messin’ with you!)

Yeah, it's weird, but Wizards mostly made this conversation happen by moving up the B&R to Monday.

I think this also gives some very serious credence to what
@GabySpartz and@ThaGuyOnTheLeft discussed on their Podcast. MTGArena and how Standars feels “solved” too fast. Perhaps folks feel there needs to be a shake up more frequently than ever. Rather than wait and see.2 odpowiedzi 0 podanych dalej 3 polubione -

Or maybe there's nothing wrong with formats being solved quicker in a digital age. This happens when they create arena ans ask more people to play. If anything, maybe they should reverse their decision and bring back 18 month rotation that they never allowed to happen.

They should have kept the two rotation a year plan. I think having it die for the sins of Kaladesh was one of the bigger mistakes WIzards has made in the past few years.

Your average FNM player would be lost with more frequent rotations. It's hard enough getting people to buy in when their deck isn't going to be playable in a year, if you start carving out chunks every six months you'll see more players dropping out. As we did with 6 month

More so than when everyone is complaining and regurgitating what they hear pros say on social media? Not snarky, honestly curious. Whenever the format is bad, cards get banned. Whenever either happens, no one shows up to play standard. Otherwise known as the past 4 years.

FNM crowds are either predominantly casual or competitive... I'd estimate 80% are on the casual end of the spectrum. At a competitive FNM, you'll experience a much larger number of players slinging top tier decks. At a casual FNM, you're more likely to see < 20% tier 1 decks

At our FNM tonight we had 1 player playing Bant Golos and zero other players with an Oko in their deck. During bad formats, thse casual crowds are insulated from oppressive decks so they don't see a downturn. However we lose people at EVERY rotation.

Rotation is like renewing a lease to play Magic for another cycle, you either walk away because your deck is no longer legal or you rebuy to play again. A store has to recruit more players than they lose to rotation just to break even. More rotations = more opportunities to drop
