Skipping Agricola this year because it conflicts with Hannibal - one of the war games I’m learning. Hannibal hasn’t started yet so I’m hanging out and rail-birding the Agricola heat, then going for lunch, which I’m pretty sure is more fun than playing a heat of Small World.

For the 20% of us that are Spikes, a lot, much of the Con is recreational players though.
Do you choose games based on how "breakable" they are? Is there a meta of top strategies that shift from year to year?

I choose games that reward skillful decision making, which is not quite the same thing. I also do err on the side of games I enjoy (which tend to have randomness and hidden information). A few games have a meta that can shift but in most the good strats stay good.
