Wowww. The time to go to the game store and get the draft started and block off my entire evening is worth more than $7 to me.
Only time I’ve ever done this was release weekend of like shards or w/e had Nicol Bolas planeswalker in it. Opened a foil and non-foil and was ptq’ing the next day so I had a guaranteed way to offload them for max $$$ the next day. At the time iirc it was like $100+ in my pocket
At $100 I can see it... at $17 I cannot, I think in that situation I would've still passed the non-foil

Sounds like the guy who gloated about making 4 packs in 5 hours for CMDR and how rich he was. Like 17.00 isn't anything I've given away more value to new players at events.
I witnessed a Lorwyn draft where P1P2 guy looked over in shock. Guy had passed a foil Thoughtseize. He was mostly a limited player and P1P1 a normal Thoughtseize. “What’s the difference?” He asked. We made him take the foil one instead.
Magic players suck
Saw someone stop a WAR draft because she opened a Nissa and foil Nissa in the same pack. She was literally shaking. She asked to keep it and replace the pack. They were $10/5. So she paid $4.32 for a $5 card and held us up 5 min. She was so thrilled no one grudged it but come on.
This is up there with people bringing a $20 card to FNM in a top loader and putting a proxy in their deck
