If you think Intentional draws are bad, you've clearly never thought it through: Alternately: "they should have to play it out" Ok, let's unpack that... you want them to sit there for the entire round pretending to play it out, doing nothing and then end the game in a draw
Great so now everyone else has to wait while they pretend to play the game and you get the same result. "But we can watch them and make sure they aren't doing this intentionally" Sure, it's a lot better to dedicate tournament staff to watch individual matches than help overall

Let's say there was the staff for this nonsense... how do you determine if they're actually in a stalemate or not? Do you give them warnings that they are missing lines of play that could result in a win? At whose discretion? The judge just looking at both hands?

So your proposal instead of IDing: 1. Lengthen the entire tournament by ensuring every round goes to time 2. Dedicate additional staff to monitor people at risk of drawing 3. Arbitrarily decide who COULD win a match and play it out for them? There's a reason IDs exist
