Anyone else creeped out by car insurance people offering you a discount if you just put their tracking bug in your car? Am I just being paranoid?

You're not alone. I don't want them to be able to see where I go at all times. I refuse to do this.
Your cell phone already does that, and they're selling your data to everyone... saving a little on car insurance seems a lot less creeptastic

I have tracking turned off on my phone, but even if it did track me that wouldn't mean I want even more companies having access to my data.
