Their take than many of the players will move onto modern is probably bad. Especially with a new non rotating format coming soon.

there is a fairly massive gulf between "Interested enough to go to a pre-release" and "willing to invest 1k+ on a pile of cardbaord"

Also a big gap between "enjoys limited / standard" and "will enjoy what happens in modern" Based on the feedback I see about Nexus in BO1, I imagine many Arena players would hate how Modern games tend to play out.

Every step deeper into Magic you shed a number of players. For every 1,000 players that jump into Standard Magic now, a non-zero percentage of those players will move deeper into the game. An influx of new players now will result in a noticeable jump in eternal down the road

To a degree. A lot of the growth we saw in the last few years of Modern was largely related to Standard being rancid and Modern being the next most accessible constructed format. That will no longer be the case come Fall.

Players either quit or keep playing. A significant number of players that keep playing will move to eternal formats over time. I don't know what there is to dispute here.
