It really is crazy that our society is still ok with ritualistic mutilation of children.

As an atheist I had my son circumcised. Not for health, or for religious reasons, but because I’ve always heard women talk badly about uncircumcised penises. Did not want him to go thru shaming.

Maybe first take a poll. Ask women what the preference is. Cut or uncut?

You're talking about cutting a child's body without any medical reason. I don't need to take a poll to know that that's wrong.

Well opinions are just that opinions. You feel strongly about it. It’s like pro choice, abortion? Go for it, it’s your body. Parenting is the same, I chose to do it and my son doesn’t love me any less.pic.twitter.com/vSMUf5NPLw

All of this is true, but the same could be said for all sorts of other body parts. Should we burn the ridges off our hands to reduce the spread of germs, or should we simply wash our hands?

If you want to do it to your own body, go for it! You're talking about doing it to a child who did not and cannot consent to it.

Well then let’s not vaccinate either, let’s not feed our child meat, let’s not pierce their ears, let’s not help them walk straight if they are pigeon toed. Just let them be.

You think circumcision is analogous to vaccination??? Are you fucking kidding me?

Preventative care? Yes in that way I do.

1. Vaccination does not remove a healthy, functional part of the body. 2. The health risks addressed by vaccination cannot be handled with hygiene.
