Jeter's slow first step to his left meant the Yankees allowed some extra singles. He balanced that out and more in most seasons due to his bat. But we shouldn't pretend he was PERFECT or an inner-circle great because he wasn't.

This is one of the major problems with BBWAA voters being the people who validate the history of the game: It's entirely possible to have watched 20 years of baseball and not understood at all what the fuck you were seeing.

Actual historians know the difference between biography and hagiography. The former tries to present a realistic, accurate portrait of a person, as much as that is possible (there is always SOME interpretation). With the latter you just offer your subject metaphoric fellatio.

Jeter was a winner. He was a hit machine. He made all the regular plays.& Had a high baseball IQ. His lack of range for the last several years hurt the team but he is a HOFer.
-
Never said he wasn't. I said this one fellow felt he SHOULD be one for arrgle-barrgle reasons and that's ludicrous.

You either have an agenda or don’t know enough about baseball to discuss this intelligently. Could be both....but it’s certainly not neither
-
What would that agenda be? To point out that Jeter isn't perfect? Sorry, but I'm a writer, a historian, and a fan, not an idolator. He's clearly a HOFer. He ain't a god among ballplayers.

Arguably the most overrated player in baseball history. Although Molina will pass him when he gets in the hall.

It's hard to remember careers when MLB basically wants to pretend a whole two decades of Baseball didn't happen.
