Sue them. Making wholesale customers pay extra when fixed price customers keep using power as much as they want is not a great way to keep consumption down.

You reap the benefits during normal energy conditions & should know the risks during abnormal energy conditions. Sue; it's your right. But, people & corporations need to take responsibility for their actions. If there was no risk, everyone would be with wholesale providers.

Is that why you charged me over $6,000 today?

-
No disrespect intended but what were you running? I knew prices were at $9 and I turned off everything except heat. I cut my usage by 66% and that’s after 38 hours with no heat at all. Paid a $100 for that day. Plus they made it clear to everyone high prices are coming

I don’t understand the frustration with Griddy. They didn’t do anything other than what they promise to do - pass through Wholesale rates. It’s Ercot that we need to be irate with - they’re the scumbags that fixed the pricing and screwed us all.
-
Nobody counted on this level of exposure and market manipulation. A lot of Griddy customers turned off their auto-pay to stop the bleeding, which leaves Griddy at the mercy of its consumers (and ERCOT) to emerge from this solvent.

We will all be paying for the PUCT (aka FUCT) decision one way or another. Resellers who lost money paying producers 9$/kWh while selling for ¢/kWh will have to recoup their losses with future price increases. Power to Choose is down to 2 pages of names instead of the usual 10+.

When this happened in August 2019, all the rates went up across the board afterwards. Will we see it happen again?
