Tesla's website: "We've assumed a fuel economy of 28 mpg for a comparable gasoline powered sedan, for example, the 2017 BMW 3 series. We've also assumed the national average of $0.13 per kilowatt-hour for electricity and $2.85 per gallon for premium gasoline over the next 6 yrs.

BTW: it’s not just gasoline that can go negative (never has occurred at retail level) … Some customers in Europe / UK can participate in real-time tariff rates. Charging your EV with negative electric rates when the wind blows. For real!

We do offer our members the benefits of when prices go negative! In fact, last year West Texas had 1,093 intervals of negative pricing, North Texas had 201 intervals, South Texas had 243 intervals, and Houston had 167 intervals. This data it taken collected in 15 min increments.
