You are only telling part of the story. When you add the $9.99 Griddy fee, TDU fees, credit card fees, and taxes, you are paying over 11.5 cents/kWh which is 25% more than the lowest 12 month fixed rate plan. . Griddy doesn't make sense for low users.https://www.energychoiceexperts.com/ece-blog/2018/11/25/griddy-review …
Why don't you let our member speak for themselves? What's it to ya if they like Griddy? We be sure to educate our members as best they can so they can make a sound decision for themselves.
We may not have to if you did a better job of educating. Do you tell (or better yet deter) potential low use customers because they don't use enough electricity to overcome the $120/yr fee? Do you verify that they have smart home features and a family willing to make sacrifices?
We give them estimates based on their monthly usage over the phone, on social, and on our web. As we've talked before if we aren't a good fit for them or it doesn't look like they'd save over the course of year, yes. Yes, we do deter them. Thanks for the concern!
How can your estimates be anywhere close to accurate? Do you know what the cost of electricity will be for every 15 minutes for the next year as well as someones usage during each 15 minute block? August demonstrated how inaccurate your estimates can be.
We use the historical average wholesale price of electricity from the last 12 months in their area and also factor in any associated fees along with our $9.99 membership. We also give this exact information to our members when we tell them their estimates.
So if two potential customers in the same zip both say they average 1,000 kWh/month, you would give both of them the same estimate. What if one of them followed all of your advise to shift usage and the other didn't? Which one is your estimate accurate for? Neither!
You're talking about 2 different things. An estimate of what someone's Griddy rate would be before using our tools and after. If you're point is we don't know how invested in our tools our members will get in order to achieve ample savings than you're not wrong.
We look at standard load profiles but if someone where to give us their SMT data I would be able to give them all of that data.
But you're right that if a person uses our tools and information to adjust their usage, then they would save even more.
