I've always wondered what negative pricing means. Does that mean that you pay me when I use electricity? B/C I can run an arc welder if it helps

When electricity prices are negative, we credit members that amount for their usage. So theoretically, a member could make money by using power during negative priced times.

SMH...While the wholesale cost of electricity may be free or negative, customers still have to pay TDU fees of 3.5-4.0 cents/kWh. Griddy, how often does the wholesale rate go lower than negative 3.5 cents/kWh? Only then will an electricity customer get paid to use electricity.

Yup! The price has gone negative 328 times from 10/15-10/21. That's across all loadzones.

Truly negative...less than the TDU rate?

Theoretically, a member could make money by using power during negative priced times. They still have to pay TDU delivery charges on that usage, so unless energy prices are REALLY negative, they're still paying something. But their energy cost is subtracted during those times.
