This is cool. How accurate to we expect "expected" to be VS the real time pricing (which I know we'll still get)
We're going to start something new where we give you the day ahead price everyday on social! For tomorrow, 10/22: Demand expected to reach at 42,923 MW during hour ending 5:00PM CST with available generation around 50,000 MW. On peak average pricing forecasted to be around 2.0¢.

The forecast price estimates tend to be accurate 95-99% of the time. That being said, it's just a forecast and anything can happen in the real-time market.

Will the day ahead price be available via an API?

Unfortunately, no. But you can see projected prices within the app.

What good will day ahead be when real time can still blow out? Or vice versa?

It's an indicator. No one knows what will happen in real time, but you can at least have an idea of what is expected to happen. The same reason you look at a weather forecast.
